How To Get To The Champagne Pools
Campr Host Dean Miller says the bubbly Champagne Pools are a great natural wonder. So check them out while on Fraser Island. “This is a pretty special spot at Champagne Pools… The natural rock walls of the pool stand in the path of crashing waves which explode and then overflow into the pool, creating a type of effervescence that has you feeling like you’re in a giant SodaStream bottle,” Dean says.
Located along 75 Mile Beach on the eastern side of Fraser Island. Sitting Between Waddy Point and Indian Head, you can reach the pools by driving about 2.2km north up the beach from Indian Head. To get down to the pools, simply follow the boardwalk down a few stairs and you’ll step out onto the beautiful rocky facade.
Safe for the whole family
Dean says it’s not a great idea to swim in the ocean on Fraser Island because of the number of sharks around. “So, the Champagne pool [make for a] safe and fun swimming destination for the little kids and the big kids in your tribe,” he says.
