General Motor Company’s first all-electric “pick-up truck” could be seen on Aussie shores as early as Spring 2021. The Hummer EV UTE has been revealed this week and it doesn’t resemble a trusty Holden ute in the slightest.
It goes without saying that the off-road category of vehicles in Australia is dominated by diesel-guzzling engines, but the new Hummer EV is making some bold claims: 1000HP, 0-60mph in 3.0 seconds and a driving range of 560km from a full charge of the 200 kWh battery.
It seems that the Hummer EV is being marketed as a recreational SUV with some off-roading capability, but not quite a 4WD super machine. An unusual “crab walk” feature has been included in the concept; where all four wheels can pivot to tackle terrain on a diagonal. We also can’t forget the 35” tires and underbody cameras for clearance.
GMSV Australia is yet to release a statement about the possibility of local delivery. With a US address you can reserve your own Hummer EV with the cheapest model starting at $79,995 (USD).
If you’re looking to trade in your trusty old ute for a no-emissions beast in the near future it’s worth dreaming about the upcoming Rivian R1T, Ford F150 EV and Tesla Cybertruck too.
