Kingfisher Bay Resort
Kingfisher Bay Resort on Fraser Island is the well-deserved luxury holiday Campr’s are searching for. As Australia’s first eco-lodge, Kingfisher Bay Resort Fraser Island is surrounded by many of Fraser Island’s natural wonders.
Guests have the best of both worlds with amazing views of Fraser Island Beach and access to breath-taking subtropical rainforests. Campr Host, Dean Miller says there is nothing better than a great meal with an even better view and both of these can be found at Kingfisher Bay Resort’s Sandbar restaurant off the water’s jetty. “It’s here [Sandbar] you’ll find most people, come sunset, by the water at the jetty or at the bar having a beer and a few prawns just waiting for the show,” Dean says.
The Campr team even tried out some kayaking and paddle boarding tours. Dean says he had an incredible experience on Dundonga Creek. “When the tide and conditions are favourable a stand-up paddle board or Kayak into the nearby creek give a clear understanding of why the Island is just so special.” “[There’s] beautiful mangrove systems here and the water is nice and clear. You can see why the staff at Kingfisher love taking their guests up here, beautiful!” Dean says.
Here at Campr we always say it’s about the journey not just the destination and in the case of Kingfisher Bay Resort even the journey was jaw-dropping on the Kingfisher Bay Ferry service. The ferry services depart daily from River Heads, a 20 minute drive south of Hervey Bay, and coast smoothly along the water to arrive on the western side of Fraser Island right out the front of Kingfisher Bay Resort.
There are so many options for Fraser Island accommodation, whether you are a camper, caravanner, or glamper, Fraser Island is the place to be. “It definitely ticks all the boxes,” Dean says.
