Queensland Waterfalls You Must Visit This Summer

0

There’s no doubt that the rains have come, making it the perfect time of year to visit our Queensland Waterfalls. Australia does have an abundance of incredible tourist locations that bring visitors from all over, but some of the most beautiful places are actually Queensland’s lesser-known waterfalls. The Sunshine State has so many waterfalls to visit that we’ve chosen a few you may not have heard of but should absolutely be on your Summer trip list.

Kondalilla Falls

Maleny

There are many waterfalls in the Sunshine Coast hinterlands but Kondalilla Falls is definitely one of the most beautiful. The walk down to the falls is through an incredible rainforest, a few small waterfalls, it’s also family-friendly as the path is clear and developed with some concrete areas. Before the falls there’s a designated picnic area, but there is some space at the falls for a picnic and your towels because you can swim at these falls!

Fairy Falls

Cairns

One of Cairns’ best-kept secrets, the Fairy Falls are right next to the ever-popular Crystal Cascades but don’t get anywhere near the same amount of visitors. Just off the beaten path, it’s a walk too far and you’ll miss it type of place, but if you know where you’re going you’ll be rewarded with beautiful scenery and a place most likely to yourselves. The entrance to the trail is at the Crystal Cascades car park, an unsigned path on the left, follow it and don’t stray! A short 15 minutes later and you’ll be cooling down at one of the best waterfalls in Queensland.

Queen Mary Falls

Scenic Rim

Only two hours from Brisbane is the iconic and much-beloved Queen Mary Falls. These Queensland falls are an old favourite of ours and definitely, a must-visit if you’re at the Scenic Rim! There are a couple of walking trails so no matter how you feel you can still visit the incredible falls. A short 200m return walk leads to a viewing deck opposite the falls or if you’re interested in more of a challenge there’s a 2km (return) that’ll take you from the top to the bottom. We got to visit Queen Mary Falls not that long ago, check out our trip below!

Millaa Millaa Waterfall Circuit

Cairns

The Millaa Millaa waterfall circuit is an area in Tropical North Queensland is just an hour from Cairns and has three iconic Queensland waterfalls within a 17km distance of each other. Millaa Millaa, Zillie and Ellinjaa Falls are all extremely incredible and definitely worth a visit. Each is pretty easy to get to with Millaa Millaa being the easiest, right next to the car park – and the only one you can swim at! Ellinjaa is the only waterfall that you might be able to spot a little platypus swimming around, Zillie is incredible and due to a lot of people skipping the fall, there are hardly any crowds!

Zillie Falls

Josephine Falls

Cairns

The Queensland waterfalls you can waterslide down are a fave for so many people and it’s easy to understand why it’s beautiful! You can swim at Josephine Falls, and the rock you slide down goes into the swimming hole as well so you’re perfectly safe. After parking, it’s a short 800m walk through the magical tropical rainforest surrounding the falls. There are picnic tables and bbq facilities at the falls as well so you can make the most of your day out.
