Lake Callide Retreat, Biloela QLD | S1 E33

0

Lake Callide Retreat is operated by Banana Shire Council, Affordable lakeside accommodation options include 5 self-contained cabins, powered sites and camping sites – all located just a stone’s throw from the water. For caravanners, there is power, water, a shared ensuite bathroom, with expansive views of the dam and free barbecues.

The dam has been stocked with sleepy cod, Saratoga, Golden and Silver Perch and even Barramundi. And if the fish are giving you the slip, you can always aim to catch another central Queensland treat, the famous Redclaw Crayfish which are delicious!

The Callide Dam is ideal for families and fishing enthusiasts

Of course, wherever you go, my number one tip is to make friends with a local fisherman as they will know what’s biting and where. So that’s where Nigel comes in. Nigel Kruger runs fishing tours out on Lake Callide so this fishing trip is going really well so far.

Now I did mention at the start that the fun used to end when the sun went down, but that is not the case anymore with the new accommodation. And there is nothing better than a fire and a starry night, this is going to be epic. My partner in crime on this trip through the Sandstone wonders of this region is a local by the name of Frank Smallwood who is going to show us around over the next few days…he loves the place!

A safe and friendly caravan park for families

It’s going to be a great week in the Sandstone Wonders in and around the Banana Shire and you will see plenty more of this fabulous part of Queensland over the next few episodes of Campr. Bookings for Lake Callide can be made by emailing caretaker@lakecallideretreat.com, visit the Lake Callide Facebook page or website.
