The strict border closures during the COVID-19 crisis has prompted us to holiday closer to home and explore our own backyards. Well, if you live in QLD or Northern NSW, your backyard just got a whole lot bigger. Annastacia Palaszczuk announced yesterday that the QLD/NSW border bubble will extend to include Byron, Ballina, Lismore, Richmond Valley and Glenn Innes shires.

What does this mean for travel?

Residents living in the New South Wales border postcodes can apply for a border pass to travel freely throughout the whole of Queensland. And, Queensland residents can visit all border zone postcodes—you beauty.

Don’t go hooking up the camper just yet though, you will have to wait for these new rules to take effect at 1AM on October 1st.
